godam thing nearly took my arm off, and here i am thinking in the uk we only have to worry about midges

Looks like a snake shed that is filled with ice/water.... but that's just my best guess. :D

cheers for the replys,wmcy its just some ice/snow that was sitting on a fir tree branch ,looking at it from below i thought it looked a bit like a python,here is another pic from higher up (my arms were streched up here and hoped for the best as regards focusing)

Wow it's just ice? Amazing that it even has that snake skin texture, but I guess it's from the bubbles.
