I need to find a pair of those goggles. Happen to know where they came from...?

no idea. prop shop I'm sure. David Ziser set it up, Wescott ran the stations.

very lovely work, Gene! I like the lighting and the soft focus (processing or lens either) from the ear back. very pleasant result.

Very good work on the whole page... seeming more and more quality these days on this thread from non usual sources :) (some experts Id be suprised to see anything less than quality, that is)

mikewinburn, thanks very much. I don't do portraits very often and this was basically my first attempt at shooting with a grey background and masking in a different one. There are a couple of things I plan on doing differently next time...if I can only remember what I did for this one. :D

Had a photo session with a local troupr of belly dancers... These were taken with my new 5dII . Lighting was an AB800 in a Fotodiox 60" Octa camera right, and a 430EXII in a 28" BD camera left.

Pham , i have to take issue with this statement, how can you say you understand light if you've never had a meter to leave in the bag ????

if you don't use a meter how do you know which light is your main or your fill, are your shadows created in photoshop ?

secondly your last paragraph here, i think many of todays n00bs don't take the time to learn how to shoot a proper exposure to even know how to break the rules

today people don't worry about getting it right in camera instead they rely heavily on photoshop, i like to get it right in camera so that there is a much better file to retouch later

but you are right about art, it is subjective and everyone interprets it differently, i think before digital, photographers really knew how to shoot, they don't anymore everything is photoshopped to death

Alejandro Sandoval, Zack Sutton and Scott (abbadon) are a few of the guys who are very creative but keep it real in photoshop
