Check out the new hood. Plus the lens is smaller. Nice.

Please proceed, Governor.

Guess we need to change the name from Brick to Pumice since it's lighter...

hate the lens hood on the new one, love how thoroughly the old one protects the lens

Didnt understand a bloody word !!! LOL

The video says:

1. He holds the new generation lens, and mechanicly it feels like the old one
2. The new lens is lighter than the old one and one can notice it.
3. People expected to see the IS in this version, but it never happened.
4. The zoom mechanism changed, it is using a barrel zoom, which extends the lens.
5. The price is more, which makes it expensive
6. Quality of the photos will have to show whether this one is better

Here is one in English: http://www.youtube.com …screen&v=m9xGB_cuN_E&NR=1 (external link)

I still prefer the MK I's zoom/barrel/hood design.

Something about the barrel extension just seems cheap to me. I'm not sure why. I was just thinking about this when I was using my 50 1.4 today; the hood completely hides the ugly extension when focusing.

Not that it really matters in the long run. In the end, it's all about the images you capture. Of course, you can make the argument that the long hood offered way better protection of the front element.
