I just got mine today and its my first L lenses. I was expecting white, I opened the box and it was beige!

I honestly may be color blind lol.

Just curious....because these all look white to me, and thats what I was expecting.

The big L's aren't true white, more of a putty color.

It's closer to white than beige in my opinion. Putty or a off-white is a good representation of the color. I believe they just call them "white" since they are not black and the actual color may not have a name. Personally I never liked the color name "putty".

I never liked the white/beige/putty/whatever-you-call-it anyway. It attracts unwanted attention. I would prefer black, with/out red ring.

Lowes sells spray paint fairly cheap. Less than a few bucks will solve that problem.

then you have to wait for the paint to dry to use it...just take a sharpie to it:

Mine is off-white. The only "pure white" lenses are the new super tele's, the 70-300L and the new 1.4x III and 2x III TC's so far.

The new lenses aren't white either. They have changed the colour, but they are more of a grayish white than a beige/putty white. It is very difficult to judge color by looking at photos on the Internet.

Here is the new 2x III behind a 70-200mm 2.8 IS II

They are all an off white/beige colour. You didn't get scammed no worries! LOL! :)

My 2x extender matches the colour as well as shown above!

My original 70-200 2.8 IS was not even close to white. After seeing the pictures everywhere I was looking forward to a nice new white 70-200 II but maybe that won't be the case
