So moving Blacks to the left is equivalent to moving the black point to the right on the histogram, which for veteran users may seem counter-intuitive.

I had completely forgotten about that while messing around with some photos a couple days ago, wondering if I had crushed the blacks so much that lifting them didn't help. Perhaps moving the slider in the right direction would help, sir?

So with the sale of LR3 right now on B&H for $70, what do you think the cost of LR4 Upgrade would be on top of that when its released?

Ok, thanks! So spending $70 now and $99 on LR4 is a pretty good deal.

That is still cheaper than the usual $299 it has been at. So it will be cheaper to buy then upgrade. However with Aperture now at a "normal" $79. LR4 may end up being cheaper. I dont think it will be. But the possibility does exist.

I've been using it more and more and i must say that this thing runs extremely laggy and slow on my computer. LR3 worked fine. no lag when adjusting or exporting and so on. it only seems to happen once i start making a lot of adjustments. if i just do little exposure and contrast adjustments its fine. once i start brushing in adjustments and using the graduated filter thing and adding color and such it starts to slow down. more adjustment brushes i have the worse it gets

i feel like I'm using a prehistoric computer but I'm not. i hope they do something about it... if not i guess ill have to and buy a new computer.

but i must say i do like LR4 better than 3. I'm able to do some pretty neat stuff with the new brushes like temp/WB, no need to bring it into PS and do layers and stuff...

A wonderful upgrade from LR3. The basic panel with the highlight and shadow sliders are wonderful, and the noise slider with the adjustment brush is great.

I find that LR4 really stretches the exposure latitude of raw images that it almost makes HDR multiple exposures unnecessary.

So I guess there is a program that if you bought LR3 within 30 days of the LR4 release, you get the upgrade free, I think I did, so I should get it free! Thats nice.

Amazon still has LR3 for $69.... So, I wonder if you can still buy it, and get 4 for free?

I just bought LR4 UPG from LR3 and love it. The RAW processing is much improved plus so many nice new features!

I just tried to get an upgrade...I say TRIED because I failed. I bought LR3 on 02/02/2012 and they denied me an upgrade - stating that upgrades were only available to people who had purchased LR3 AFTER 03/06/2023. No - that is not a typo - I was told AFTER MARCH 6. So unless you purchased LR3 today or yesterday then Adobe says you cannot upgrade.

This is in contradiction to others experiences here. I have read on here that folks who purchased in Feb were being given upgrades - but the Adobe rep I chatted with said no dice. I argued till I was blue in the face, but no dice..

Hope others have better luck.

2023? That's defiantly a typo .

I'm sure when I looked at that link yesterday it did have a date, I'm sure it was a feb date, but now I can't see any date.

LOL...yeah...2023 is a typo for sure...sorry. It was March 6, 2012. Sucks...

And to add...she did tell me the policy had changed (we were in a chat window) and I asked her when, and she came back her third round of "im sorry...You are not eligible...blah blah blah

So maybe they did change it in the last 24 hrs...Sucks again...

The deal is supposed to be 30 days prior to the release day which was 3/6, so that is BS in my opinion nutbolt!! Glad I haven't opened mine yet. I'll be returning it to B&H and getting the full for $149...vs. spending $60 +$79 for an upgrade...I'd rather have a full product than an older full and upgrade new.

This is why I HATE Adobe sometimes.

I'm still waiting on an open ticket to see if I qualify for a free upgrade to LR4 with my 2/15/2012 purchase...will post back the resolution here.
