Wanted to get all of the sexual innuendo "out in the open," so to speak.
My last ball head, a Manfrotto 496RC2, got completely trashed by sand, rain, and my incompetence (took it apart and lubricated the "teflon" ball with bike chain grease...)
I replaced it with a Cullmann MB6, which I just received yesterday. It seems like a fairly nice head, not quite RRS quality but certainly better than the Manfrotto. It's not completely sealed though, and doesn't seem to be user serviceable. I do a lot of hiking, long backpacking trips, and occasionally shoot in pretty nasty weather.
Any suggestions for keeping my head safe? I was thinking about using a ziploc and rubber band while hiking and taking it off when the moment is right, but that just seems...weird and ineffective.
