Okay, you drive a hard bargain. ;-)a ...we could make a loop out of it. West to Bodega, north to Fort Ross and the redwoods in Armstrong State park on the way back.

Driving a hard bargain should include coast redwoods north of Garberville.

Congrats to the winners! :) Love seeing the photos.. yeah I always say that..

I didn't have anything exciting to enter, so maybe this week I can come up with something. My card reader slot on my computer decided to quit working, so now I can't get my pictures to the computer. :( blah...

Anyone recommend a good card reader that works with Compact Flash as well as the SD cards that the G12 uses?

oooohhhh.... you are making the deal sooo much more enticing... what about a place called Devils something or other..? I think it is much farther north though... looks amazing in a few photos I have seen.. I need to find a link to share. :)

HAPPY MONDAY! Who is off work today?

Congratulations to the winners and good work by all. Some great shots.
Spot on about the "snapshot" except I would call it photojournalism. It was during a parade I was covering, hence no way to set up the shot. I guess I should have named it "Everyone Loves a Parade". Here is the original and it was very harsh light but using the speedlight helped. I made a few changes to it.

HAPPY MONDAY! Who is off work today?

There's a Devil's Slide on Hiway 1 south of San Francisco, and a Devil's Postpile on the east side of the Sierra's near Mono Lake, but I don't recall any Devil's xxx? north of here.

I got the day off, and this storm is just beginning to break up, so I'm headed south toward the city to see if there's anything worth photographing. Hopefully, I can get some nice lighting and clouds.

Cuypers1807 - You think that's funny?

I like the conversion and the framing looks good. The facial expression makes this shot and seems to have captured a humorous moment. The image is well titled. ha!

Great resolution but the only face in focus seems a little to dark to me.

Thank you very much for the comments! These two ladies are good friends. It was a bit of a surprise to catch that facial expression. Not sure what they were talking about.
Just a note... I know it is not the norm but most of the time I am shooting on black and white film and therefore there is no "conversion".

I made a mistake...
IT's pretty far north from you, I guess..

Del Norte Coast, and the trail is called Damnation Creek Trail...

Another local Phoenix photographer posted some shots on her blog, and they are amazing.. Totally made me want to get over there... :)

Just under the wedding photos, she shares what she did for the remainder of the weekend in that part of the country...

The shots are absolutely to die for.. So amazing how the light comes through the trees like that, with all the green and red colors combined. Looks like something from a fairy tale.. and to have it end on the coast.. just make the fairytale complete.... This is def. on my wish list! :)

I find the SanDisk ImageMate multi-card readers to be very reliable!

I use one of these: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …e_All_in_One_USB_3_0.html (external link)

It is backwards compatible with USB-2.

Looks like an interesting hike and it appears she was using a 15mm fisheye on some of those shots. It helps to have a wide angle lens when shooting redwoods.

I'll have to check that trail out this summer when we make our annual trek to the north coast.
