Who is the first to have third party lenses available for preorder? Amazon?

Some new-ish tidbits here: http://blog.uniquephoto.com/?p=7881 (external link)

Available "in the next couple of months."

"Significantly less" than $1699. No info on what that really means, though.

"Watch out for another new fast-aperture zoom with VC from Tamron this year."

I still say $1200 or so. We'll see. Obviously they're pretty far along with an actual copy to show.

This would be nice. Especially if they can keep the same excellent optical quality!

Agreed, Optically, the 70-200 f/2.8 was a stonking great lens, and the only Tamron i came close to actually loving

But the AF was screechy slow and LOUD not to mention very inaccurate half the time...

The sharpest lens in the world is worthless if it wont focus

Actually I would have to say that it still is my favorite lens. Granted I do not use it for anything fast moving, but for portraits and stills it is pretty awesome. I find that mine focuses very accurately with very few misses.:D

Absolutely!!! Would love for a refresh the 70-200f/2.8! Improve the I.Q. a bit in the process, and I'd buy one first thing!

Am I missing something there? What's new? All I see is a regurgitation of the original press release.
