I'm pretty pumped up now! This is just the beginning. There are some really amazing spots I've scouted that are going see some spinning wool!

Good call! Looks like I'll be putting the 'ole UV filter on while spinning wool. My lenses are insured, but this is easier and cheaper. Thanks for the tip!

I thought we all had the UV filters on our lenses when we did this. Hello! :)

After I read what it does to windshields (before I started doing mine) I made sure I had a cheap UV filter on my lens.

Let me know if the color looks off. I'm new at this saving for web thing and the color in the pic below doesn't match what photoshop looks like. Here's my 2nd attempt at steel wool...

Set a timer, that way you won't get a trail from where you lit it to where you span it around! :D

haha, that's actually at the end of the shot. i got hit with a pretty large wave that sent me running and soaked. unfortunately this was the only steel wool shot that i like of the 6 or so that i took because i was too close to the camera for the rest so you can't see the bridge in the background as well in the others.

I like the framing a lot. Love that you incorporated the bridge into the shot and it definitely makes it for me. Only gripe would be the foreground. I wonder if you could use a longer lens, helping to cut out the foreground a bit and it might help to compress the bridge in the background a bit, too.

Anyways, great choice of location!

Happy spinning!

Thanks Todd. I agree about the foreground. It's actually lit with a flashlight and it looks horrible. There's also a blow out at one side of the bridge. I didn't notice these flaws until I got home so I have to live with them for now. When I get back out there, I'm going to make sure I shoot a tighter shot with less foreground and work on a couple of different exposures. Thanks again.
