Rick where was that shot? Very nice!

I am assuming it is in Thailand somewhere where all his shots are some!

Great shot as usual!

Thank you!

It was taken from the sky deck at Mori Tower in Tokyo. :) The orange"Eiffel tower look-alike" on the right is Tokyo tower. 20 meters taller than the one in Paris.

Was this shot cropped at all? If so, how much?

I just bought this lens from a forum member here and I also do a lot of product/watch shots. Seems like this lens does the job!

I am glad that you like my work. No, I live in Bangkok, but I travel alot around Asia. Japan is my favorite destination, so that is why I post alot of photos from there. I'm planning a trip to Osaka and Kyoto for one month this spring, during the japanese cherry blossom season.

thats pretty cool. traveling is fun :D

looking forward into seeing your cherry blossom shots. thats gonna be beautiful site and something i would like to see and experience sometime in my life.

Yes it was cropped. Here is a small section of the uncropped image.
I think I could have got it sharper, my tripod is too cheap and wobbly for a lens of this weight at 1/50 sec.
You need to set the lens to the 1.2 - infinity setting and have to be at least 1.2m away of course. I used manual focussing because at 2.8 the depth of field is incredibly narrow. I'm sure that given sufficient light and solid tripod, depth of field could be increased on other aperture settings. To be honest I was surprised at how good this came out, I was shooting using a 50mm, and thought I'd chuck on the 70-200 for a laugh. I will be experimenting further with the lens for close ups, as the colours it got was amazing.

Like you said, with a better tripod and stronger light, the results could be improved which is crazy because that image already looks great.

I can't wait to get my hands on this lens and contribute to this thread.

Senior picture taken in studio. My 70-200 2,8 II has proven as sharp as several primes in the same focal range.
