micro 4/3 vs G12

Hi all,

Are Olympus and Panasonic the only brand with micro 4/3 cameras?

Compared to canon G12, which wan is better?

It depends what you mean by "better". Assuming you mean better image quality, the m4/3, with its much bigger sensor, is superior. It is also much less noisy at higher ISO.

Here are two comparative reviews, one for G12 and small sensor competition, and the other for CSC (compact system cameras)/mirrorless to include m43.

The arguments regarding your question about which is better between the Olympus and Panasonic depends on your point of view. There have been suggestions that the Olympus JPEG engine is better than the Panasonic, and the Olympus also has in body image stabilization, while the Panasonic only stabilizes their lenses, except for their pancake lenses.

The new Canon G1 X seems aimed at providing the desired larger image sensor in a small body, and provides a built in stabilized zoom lens. The mirrorless (m43 and APS-C sensors) cameras offer interchangeable lenses, and are preferred by those that want that option.
