The guy in the french forum claimed that Canon is reacting a lot to their competitors. So the roadmap is always moving.
For instance, the mirrorless compact is in the box for years but not announced by Canon (trying to improve it ?)

Whatever, a 3 FF line-up (semi pro) will kill EF-S in my opinion if it looks like these :
-cheap FF
-5D3
-5Dx

Yes, but what do we call cheap? Canon's recent price hikes to everything with a mkII in it's name show that all new products are hitting a "new price" premium.

You think the invitation would have a nice silhouette of the new body with a dark background or something of the sort. But coffee?? :p

Cheap FF may also mean taking customers that would get APS-C from Nikon, Sony, etc...

Canon's marketing strategy is difficult to understand with the little info we have, but I guess they do have a strategy. Let's just hope it will make sense once the new camera is announced...

The steam coming off the coffee is obviously photoshopped. Not sure the shape is suposed to mean anything. I don't know how clever Canon gets with these things.

IMO "cheap" means that for a given price, a buyer would have to choose between a FF (low MPix, low ISO, low AF...) and a top nocht APSC (high MPix, high ISO, fast AF...).

The price of 1200€ (=1200$ for electronics) could be a good value. The 5D2 at 1799€ could still living and a cheap FF would be competitive to the 1299€ 7D.

Okay... If this is announced on March 2nd, and some sites start taking preorders that day.
What's the chances that I'll be able to cash in on the "Double rebate on a lens with a body purchase" promotion (which ends on the 3rd)?

The coffee cup is white, a reference to Canon glass. The muffin is dark, a reference to the dark side. The coffee cup looms behind the muffin. The message is: "We're going to eat Nikon for breakfast".

All the very best,

€3250? Sounds extremely expensive to me.
In the UK that's like £2750 (likely will be more), I don't see how that is going to be competitive against a D800 at £2000. £750 is a big chunk of cash to put towards a nice lens. Hell you could even buy a D800 and an extremely expensive grip for that!

Anyway, looks like Canon will be doing a good job protecting it's 1DX, allot more people considering a 5Diii, might just fork out the extra...

the presence of coffee (ie, caffeine) suggests that Canon is now ready to introduce in-camera IS.

:p

Same here, that's $4700 US. Seems really excessive for what's sounding like a minimal upgrade to the existing MkII. But we will fin out Friday. :) Maybe Canon will knock out socks off with a killer body ultra clean at very high ISO.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
