Hey, if you want to drop thousands based on paper specs go for it. Specs do not directly translate to IQ. Been there, done that in the past and got burned spending a lot of money needlessly. If resolution is all that matters by all means jump on the preorder list for whatever has the highest.

Or just jump on a preorder list for all of them then cancel/return when needed.

7D was about six weeks from the announcement until the first units being delivered. The 5D2 was a couple of months but it took several more months for it to be readily available without backorder. People were paying over $4k for them on eBay when few were available.

so what you're saying, is snatch up two if you can asap, then sell one on ebay? sounds like a plan.

I wouldn't, I don't see any of these new bodies being worth the risk. Ebay gives buyers six and a half weeks to file a 'not as described' claim. So overpay for a body and weeks later when they are available at MSRP file a SNAD claim, get your money back, and send back a well used body.

i wouldn't bother, if i snatched one up, i'd want to use and not flip it for some nominal profit.

Heres an idea.

Have the 5d mk III with the ability to turn the AA Filter on or off in the menus. I'm sure it could be done.

I've actually said that in the Nikon thread before. I want to turn it on for video work. Someone responded it would probably be cheaper to buy a D800 and D800E.

Another good reason not to be an early adopter especially if the body has a new type of battery. I'm able to buy third party generics now that work just as well as the originals for $23/pair.

Man you'd think in our day and age that would be a relativly simple thing to do...what do they do in R&D??

It seems that too much money goes into marketing strategies and not enough into making a better camera.

I hope Canon matches Nikon in this respect. I don't do video and I don't need an AA filter. Give me the choice to buy one without it.

"If" one of the bodies is a cheap option I think it will be a great move. But first we need to define what cheap is.

Judging by Canon's pricing of recent new lenses and bodies, I shudder to think of their definition of "cheap".
