I love my 5D II to bits and will never sell this camera. The 5D III is an awesome camera and can't wait for it to come out so I can go to my local camera shop and test it out. I really don't need any of the new features on the camera, but I would buy one because I love having new technology to play with.

5D3.

Full frame FTW, plus you can't use 4 cameras at the same time anyway...

You could tape them together and get panoramics..

I'm kind of hoping that the second hand market is going to get saturated with 5D II's, bringing the price down a little, because there's no way I'm going to be able to afford the latest version

Nope, my Mk2 didn't get any different just because the Mk3 was announced. Still goes along side my 7D perfectly so I'm keeping my current bodies as is.

My camera says Canon and goes clickity clickity click.

Yup, that's me. Actually I'm a bit relieved to hear I don't need to drop any more money any time soon.

If you are a gear head I suspect you will not be happy unless you have the latest and greatest. If you are a talented photographer it will make little difference to you

I will quite happily stay with my 5D MK II.
Yes, technically the Mk III is superior in every way, BUT:

I don't shoot sports and don't need 61 AF points - the Leica S2 hasjust one, I am happy with one perfect af point in the middle. 61 AF points would for me just clog up the viewfinder.
(if someone asked me if I want to give up all points except the centre point on my MK II, I would)

Framerate, again for sports the 6fps are better than 3,9 fps, but I don't shoot sport.
I don't know anything I shoot that requires a high frame rate.

That leaves resilution and dynamic range. A resolution change from 21.1 to 22.3 MP is worthless. That leaves dynamic range and the larger and possibly cleaner ISO of the MK III for landscape photography.

My next issue with the MK III is that it is an ugly round ball... Why does eveything need to look licked smooth? I don't want sharp edges, but making everything round just looks ugly, especially on tools.

Having said that, I would have preferred if Canon stuck to a combination similar to the 7D and 5D MK II. One the ultimate landscape and studio camera, the other for sports.
As it stands now, whenever I can afford some, it will be lenses, but maybe I should start collecting for a Leica to be bought in a decade or so...

PS: the overall M design is virtually unchanged since the 1920Ies. Edges where appropriate and rounded where appropriate.

I'm a gear head and I don't really care about the camera as it is only 1MP more than 5D2.

I don't think your conclusion is correct :D
