Hi, I'm going to buy new cards for stills and videos. I've tried searching on the net and this forum but I haven't found the exact answers.

I'm looking for class 10 cards with overall capacity (single or multiple card(s)) of 32GB. I'm not sure which reliable brand should I choose. Also, I'm on a budget.

Here is what I'm thinking of: (bh prices, it's more expensive where I live)
1. 32GB Sandisk Extreme $54.95 -I think it goes up to $90 where I live :(
2. 32GB Lexar Professional $52.95 -same as sandisk
3. 32GB Transcend $38.95 (if the two above cards are "that" better, I'm willing to pay)

Which brand is the best? Mostly for video in 720p.

or
I could buy 2 of each brand in 16GB capacity, 1 card fails, another can still be used, though a little more expensive.

or
one 16GB Sandisk Extreme + one 16GB Transcend $47.90
(as a back up, if Transcends are inferior, to make the price lower)

Thank you in advance for you guys' opinion.:)

Regards,

-Saran W.

I got a couple of these recently and they have been great. they run about 18 MB/s steady dumping large files for me, and the price can't be beat.

If you're going purely for reliability, you probably want to get the Sandisk.

I've used a class 6 Lexar pro in my XSi and it worked just fine, still does after many years. I've also used a class 6 panasonic card and it's still going strong. I'd personally go for 2x 16gb cards (I believe all 3 brands you listed are pretty good anyways) as 1) 16gb is a lot and as you said "1 card fails, another can still be used" and 2) you'd hate yourself if you misplaced or lost a 32gb card

+1 for Sandisk. My Lexar card just died and my Sandisk is still going strong.

While I use Sandisk in my DSLR's I do have the Transcend in my P&S. Have for a couple yrs. Had nothing but success with it both for stills and video. With my experience, I wouldn't shy away from Transcend for business if need be.

I just got the new 45 mb/s Sandisk 32gb Class 10 card to use with my GoPro camera. It is a bit faster downloading video than the 30 mb/s Sandisk 16gb Class 10 card I was using. I'm sold on the quality of the Sandisk cards.

Sandisk for the quality and true performance, a lot of other brands have dubious performance claims

I have Transcend cards and they've been very good as well. In my T3i, I'm not sure if I would have faster emptying of the buffer with fancier/more expensive cards, but Transcends get quite a bit of space for the money.

If you're budget is tight, consider getting some space now, and then you can save some money for later for a better/larger one in addition. Prices decrease and speeds increase pretty rapidly these days.

Thank you for all the opinions! This forum and the people are great! I really appreciate that. :D

I'm now leaning towards getting a 16GB Sandisk as my main card, and a 16GB Transcend as a back-up/extension. (two brands because of budget reasons) Does that sound good?

Thank you,

If you buy Sandisk, purchase from a reputable dealer. They are heavily counterfeited.

And this is probably the most truthful statement in the thread. :D
