7D users like me probably considered the 5D or 5DMK2 before buying our 7Ds. Is the 5DMK3 really any different?

The new 5DMK3 WILL have some great features. A new 61 point focus system with more cross type at 2.8, 4.0 and 5.6, new metering system, video upgrades, ability to rate our images in camera (with a new special button), an SD card slot as well as the CF slot, and a few more which don't improve our images. I would LOVE to have that new focus system but the 7D focus system works great! I would also like that SD slot.... Nothing has really changed unless you were waiting for this day to upgrade to full frame or have some special video needs.

The 7D has dual Digic 4 processors. It has the speed, feel, viewfinder, a great focus, metering, and processing system. I don't know how the single Digic 5 processor will compare to the dual Digic 4s. The 7D is the best crop body Canon makes. The image quality is good. If you know how to use it and process the images it's pro quality. I LIKE the crop sensor. It suits my needs and I get more reach and use the center of my lenses.

The new 5DMK3 looks to be a sweet body. The 7D is a proven sweet body with a crop sensor. How many of you 7D users plan go full frame with the 5DMK3 or 5DMK2? Maybe you are keeping the 7D and getting a 5D for a second body? What are you 7D users doing?

I've been waiting for the 5DMk3, and was thinking I might sell my 7D and EF-S lenses to get it, but now that I've seen it, I think if I do anything, I'll just get a Mk2 to go with the 7D.

This might be a popular choice for people who want 2 bodies. The 5DMK2 creates great results and the 5DMK3 is SO expensive. You can get a lot of glass for 3400 bucks.

I will likely get it when the price comes down. Likely this camera will be around for a while so wouldn't surprise me if it's possible to pick one up for 2500 or less in 2013 and still be shooting the newest 5D for a long while yet. Lots of time to save up for this plus the lens swap. Mind you maybe the 7D2 will be out then and make the choice harder!

No need. I can only afford the 70-200 2.8 for sports, so I need the crop reach.

I'm very impressed with the 5Dmk3 but it will be difficult to justify its price tag. With that said, I wouldn't rule it out in a year or so. I would never go from my 7D to a 5Dmk2, but the mk3 is very tempting.

That's exactly what I did. I waited on the 5d Mk III announcement and was underwhelmed so I just went w/a 5d Mk II. Should be a pretty nice combo.

This will be a popular choice with a lot of us. If you need a full frame, the 5D3 is underwhelming for the price. The 5D2 is looking good at this point......as much as we want it all. The 7D and 5D2 is a great combo.

I waited years for this camera, after I bought a 5D Mark II and sold it because AF sucked, I later bought a 7D perfect AF, so I think this is what the 5D II was suppose to be in the first time. The anwser is Yes, I plan to buy one. I miss the full frame, with my fav lense 24-105.

Thinking If I keep the 7D as backup or sell it, because 5D Mark III it's a lot of cash, without selling the old camera.

I want the new 5D

But my parents helped me finance the 7D. I'll have it forever!

Would I prefer to have the both 7D and 5DMK3? Of course. But being that I am not a pro, the justification for the MK3 price is not there for me. I will very likely sell the 5D classic and replace it with a 5DMK2.

I used a 10D for a very long time and quickly jumped on the 7D when it came out. I have been waiting for the right FF to come along and nearly bought a 5d2 when the price hit 2k last year. I'm glad I waited. I have my preorder in on the 5d3 and I am trying to figure out what to do with my 7d. I think I will keep it as a backup, but I will be selling my 10-22 to help pay for a 16-35. The 5d3 should have some DR and IQ advantages over the 7D and it gives me the ability to shoot with more breathing room in my small studio. When I am out and about I almost always have my 10-22 on my 7D and I find that lens isn't great. I would much prefer the 16-35 to get the same focal lenght. For me this is a tax write off as I have a photography business and I have the income to justify the purchase. The 7d has served me admirably over the last almost 3 years and I have 100k shots on it at the moment. I think its time to move up to FF and I can't afford the 1dx so it's the 5d3 for me.

Sure I want the 5DMK3 but too expensive for me at this time. So keeping the 7D.

Keeping my 7D because I already have a 1DsII for times when I want the full-frame goodness.

I am so glad I didn't wait for the mk3 and decided to grab the mk2 last Nov.
The price alone is almost twice what I paid for the mk2, and is certainly more than I paid for the mk2 & the 7D together, and quite frankly I prefer the versatility of having two bodies.

I couldn't vote in the poll because you need a 'keep 7D and 5d mkII' option ;)
