Maybe if you had the smarts, you would realise I'm trying to inform the 'uninformed' that strong AA filters are not good for still photography.

Words fail me as to why you are unable to comprehend that...

Actually I do know that... as I HAVE A LEICA WITH NO AA FILTER! So its about educating the unknowledgeable than... then go forth and do gods work lol.

Very strong AA filter bad for still photo = Correct

5D Mark III has a very strong AA filter = Not known.

If your message was only the first part, we'd be fine. But you are stating the second one like a known fact.

There isn't really any reason that the 5D3 should have a stronger AA filter than the 5D2. They both do video, and they have about the same number of pixels. I've never heard anybody **** about video moire problems with the 5D2.

As a matter of fact, if video moire is the issue, the 5D3 should have a less agressive AA filter. The Digic 5+ processor can read the 22MP sensor without line skipping, which means that the 5D3 will be much better for moire in video even with a less agressive AA filter.

I reiterate, we simply don't know at this point what the 5D3 IQ is like. And believe me, the guys pre-ordering the camera know that they are ordering from a spec sheet alone. Your concern that these guys don't know that they are taking a small risk is really, really touching.

The spec list is great, who can complain?
However EVERY SINGLE IMAGE SAMPLE sucks, yet your not having doubts?

The only thing any of us KNOW at this time, is that you've made up your mind the camera sucks, is worse than Nikon, and maybe even worse than the 5D2...yet you haven't touched the camera yet, nor seen ANY direct, well-shot, unbiased, RAW comparison shots to ANY of them.

Talk about jumping the gun...but then, I guess, that's to be expected from where it's coming, reading your commentary. I''m sure you'll continue to love Nikon for years to come. They do make great cameras.

Nex 7
Nex 5

All outperform the 7D in terms of IQ.

lol the nex 5/7 is trashed daily by leica guys(using leica glass) for being soft and with strong aa filters. Besides you are comparing cameras from 2011 with a camera that came out in late 2009 lol, your a funny fellow arent you?

If the mode dial never shifted on your other bodies, count yourself extremely lucky. Do you work with two cameras? Do you have one or both hanging by your side? If you do that, sooner or later - and usually at exactly the worst time - you will bring the camera up to your eye, compose a photo, press the shutter, and wonder what in hell is going on with the exposure - because the dial will have turned to some other mode. The mode dial sometimes gets shifted in the course of inserting or removing a body from a bag. Canon needed a detent or lock on the mode dial decades ago. The 1 series bodies don't have this problem: it's always taken a button press and a dial turn to change the mode.

The DOF preview might be another story. Have to wait and see how it feels in hand.

Sorry I dont fight with bodies, just take photos.
As I previously posted I respect the need for safety

All the evidence to date, points to strong AA filter, hence all the 7D esqué comments regards to the IQ. Maybe it'l surprise me and be tack sharp, but I wouldn't place a bet on it personally...

As for why, there was no reason for the 7D to have a stronger AA filter over the 550D was there?
Also some vid guys have been complaining about moire in video, so that is the 'why'. There has been mention of software reduction, but the best way to deal with moire is the AA filter...

On another note, as expensive as the 24-70 II may be, sure does look delicious. Im looking forward to renting it as soon as it becomes available here.

The MFT charts are close to the 70-200 2.8 MKII. It should impress! Im looking to pair it up with the 5dmkIII. :D

Nex 7 looks on par with the M9 for sharpness imo, but at a minimum it runs circles around the 7D for image detail...

Shouldn't have anything to do with pixel level sharpness...
