Should i trade my 50D for 5Dc?

I have researched the hell out of this question and cannot decide..
A friend has invensted in the new 5D Mark III and wants to sell me his Minty 5Dc.. I can buy it for the same price as i could sell my 50D for.
I recently bought a 24-70L and love it, but not on my cropped 50D.

I shoot about 10 weddings a year, landscape, portraits, and still life. No sports.

Bottom line is im geeked about FF, and would like to focus on buying L glass after this decision.

ANY feedback would be great, and very appreciated.

do it. You'll love the 5d. The technology is a step backwards but if you're ok with that grab the 5d, alot of people will suggest a 5dmkii but since you want to upgrade your lenses id grab it.

Absolutely, I recently jumped boat from a 50D to a 5Dc and have not looked back. The colors and IQ you get from a full frame camera is just incredible. The only real loss is live view and the bigger screen, but if you can look past that, it's an amazing upgrade.

Based on what you shoot you should go for it. The 5dc is an excellent camera. I only got rid of mine to finance an second 5d2

The 5Dc is a real dinosaur in regard to features. Personally, I'd pass on it.

Ask your friend to let you use the 5D for a day or two. That would give you enough time to decide if you like the layout and feel of the 5D. Take a good look at the images in a good software editing program and see if you still think there's a huge difference in the image quality.

I have had and still have a 5Dc and you will be amazed at just how good it is with that 24-70 on it, do not hesitate, go ahead and do it.

To pass along a further bit of advice but the 24-70 is not the best choice for the dslr you have now. I think the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS would be a far better choice on your particular camera.
Even try some nice primes such as a 50 f/1.4 from Canon/Sigma or the Canon 85 f/1.8. If you really want to see what nice glass can do on the 50D, check out forum member Blackrainbow in the lens section under the Canon 135L f/2.0

I bought my daughter a 40d which is similar to your 50d and I don't think her camera comes close to the photos I get from the 5d. I use to have a 7d and sold it to get the 5d and am very happy with my choice. I don't need all the fancy technology, just a camera that takes good pics.

I was pondering the 7D before this deal with the 5D came about.. Of course it would end up taking money out of my pocket for it. Something i would rather not do at this time..
The 7D has alot of technology that i would definitely use.. But its not a priority.. I never use live view with my 50D and have no interest in video.. ISO performance is nice, but i dont find myself shooting past 1600 very often..

Do it, you won't look back. I went 50D to 5D2 and absolutely love it. For the first time ever I have a body that I have had no second thoughts about.

Sounds like a good choice for your needs. Just make sure you go over the specs and see if there is anything that you will miss having.

If you can see if your friend will let you borrow it to make sure it's what you really want.

Given what you shoot, a 5D is more suited to your subjects. The only thing I'd miss would be the ability to micro-adjust lenses. My 5D II arrives tomorrow. I suspect I'll be listing my 50D for sale soon.

For what you shoot, a 5d would be ideal.
