Question about eBay seller

A seller called 800photovideo has a 7d on sale for 1300 bucks as opposed to the going rate of 1599 on amazon and b&h.

Anyone have experience/advice on this kind of thing? I rarely buy on eBay and it's a big purchase for me...

As the old adage goes, "if its too good to be true, it probably is"...

With that being said, I have had no personal experience. Just be wary.

$1300 doesn't sound out of line honestly. Look carefully. Check their feedback. Check for included items (battery, charger, etc). READ their feedback as well as looking at the number. Check shipping costs. Check and see if it's used or a refurb. Check and see if it's grey market (i bet it's grey market, and hence the less expensive price, no warranty).

What is their feedback and have they sold anything like that, or any similar items recently in their feedback history? As Tony said, seems too good to be true...

Looks like they don't give the manufacturer warranty because they have their own 90 day warranty and they claim with the low price, they can't offer the canon warranty...smells fishy, but they've sold at least 15 or 20 of them around this price in the last few months according to ebays tracker

Hmm, doing a quick search, I didn't see that seller. I do see brand new 7ds for under $1300 though, shipped. However, the catch is: they are grey market. The reputable grey market sellers will tell you they are, have been around for a long time, and will have their own warranty help service. The non reputable ones (look at the ship location and such too) will try to mislead you or won't mention that it's grey market.

Taking a look...almost certainly a grey market item. Not necessarily fishy, but ehhhh, their reasoning is a bit suspect. And if you are going to go grey market, there are better deals from more honest ads, so why bother.

Think I may take your advice and just wait a little longer for amazon. They were 1399 on amazon last month...guess I should've just struck while the iron was hot with amazon. Anyone know why it increases so dramatically so fast?

in the general description box at the very bottom they say that they dont include manufacture warranty due to their low prices and also because they sometimes sell the camera and box/contents with everything minus the kit lens.

Since the 7D kit lens is the 28-135mm, they prob took that out and listed it here as a white box item:
http://www.ebay.com …2eb9ded8c9#ht_1934wt_1344 (external link)

The 7D + 28-135 Kit is going for 1799. subtract the 357 for the their listing price of the lens which = $1442
Considering the fact that retailers buy in bulk their cost of buying the kit is probably a bit lower and i'm guessing thats how they're able to put the price of the 7D at a lower price of 1300. a price which makes sense to me perfectly. Not to mention their good feedback.

Has anyone ordered from a seller like this off eBay though? I just don't want to regret buying it without a warranty and a reputable seller knocks the price down to 1399 again

Personally, I'd want to buy something of this complexity and value from a reputable authorised Canon dealer - You are obviously not 100% happy with this deal on ebay so don't buy it! :-)

1300 is more than I would pay for a 'new' 7D from someone that is not a Canon dealer. You may consider a refurb from Canon directly thru the CLP program. I think around $1100 with a 90 day warranty from Canon.

Or consider used from the B&S board from a well 'feedbacked' seller.

Grey market. Canon's repair facilities probably wouldn't even touch it if you sent it in for repair. They'd just ship it right back to you.
