I think you need to boost your contrast on the guy.

Strobist info: 1x Elinchrom Quadra camera left, infront of models face but slightly behind at pwr level 4 shot at f10. Second Quadra behind model just has a slight kicker in a 100 Deep Octa.

To answer his question, without the 2nd kicker light (even if its set really low) the man would of bleed straight into the background.

Just because you use multiple lights doesn't mean you have to blast them all, being subtle can be quite interesting sometimes.
