New iso compare is out!

Nikon D700 and a pre-production D800

Post this in the D800 vs 5D3 thread, then sit back and enjoy your popcorn.

Wait, is there a separate thread for that now? It got ugly in the 5DIII thread for a while and all the Nikon talk got axed.

There's actually two. I thought they would be merged by now.

Is that suppose to be with no noise reduction? Those shots would be awesome for a 16MP sensor, considering it's 36MP it's really mind blowing.

Im probably picking up a used mf system before the d800.. Im pretty sure that keeping the 35mm for what its intended and a mf for the lounging about no stress type of shots will do me more good than filling up the computer with lots of mps... However once its out the urge will no doubt creep up. Id love to see some good uncompressed landscape shots, with cream lenses like cz 21, pce24, 14-24 ...

I finally got a chance to download the raw files myself. ISO 6400 and below does not need any noise reduction. ISO 12800 and 25600 are VERY usable with just the default +25 color noise reduction.

The noisiest file is 56.3MB in size and my core i7, 16GB Ram iMac has zero issues with these files. Any editing happens in a snap.

I'm in awe, I have to go look at my old D3s files because I honestly think these are better.
