I don't think that's supposed to be standard policy. Instead of marking it down, they're supposed to return it to Canon, who would refurbish it.

This is definitely YMMV, and I don't think it's easily repeatable.

Dont overlook Best Buys restock policy on returns etc. Last I saw they charge.

Sometimes BestBuy DOES have the Best Buy (but not often.)

They got rid of their restocking fees a while back. The only thing they charge restocking fees for are special order items.
