Having spent my last 12 summers in Greece (and 10 winters as well) I have seen my share of Brits barbequeing in the summer sun. However, the prize goes to a 50+ gentleman who spoke an incomprehensible language (not Strine...) who had cooked himself in Crete to a perfectly uniform scarlet! It was painful to just look at him... I eventually screwed up the courage to talk to him. He was a Finn. Coming back to the saturation 'issue'... I think there is some basis on people developing saturation taste based on where they grew up/live. Notice that in Northern Europe, the colors in everything are undersaturated and the form is emphasized (think of IKEA). I lived 4 years in Norway. Although they paint their houses yellow, red, blue and green (not all at the same time...) the colors may be strong but they are not bright. I also spent a good part of a year in Aberdeen... For those of you that have been there... 'Silver City'... Almost B&W... Now think of countries near the Equator. Tropical. Mexico... Tons of bright, oversaturated colors... Their national costumes are colorful, their rugs are colorful, their decorations are colorful. Even in the US. The Northeast is a lot more reserved than the Southwest. Or California... As a matter of fact, Southern California is a lot more colorful than Northern California. I think there is something there. If we recognize the regional qualities of the light, we can use them to our best advantage! ![]() Good post, with some good points. You'll be late for everything because the light was right and the action was good (magoosmc)

My seasons have been LAME during graduate school. However, is there a frontside vs backside on skis? I should know this. ![]() ha ha, I went to MSU in Bozeman! Yeah, skiers have a natural rotation and then their unnatural, but you need to know the skier to know which is which and it pretty much only comes up in high end contests when everyone KNOWS the riders. Also, it really only matters when you judge and entire run, they need to spin BOTH ways to get a good score basically. My Gear List
