I can't believe some of you haven't changed your settings to 50 post per page.

First, how do you know that, and second, I've searched around, where is that setting?

Because I'm on page 4, now.

User Cp, uder settings & options. Go to edit options, 3rd brick down change number of post per page.

Our internet speed changes drastically, more posts per page means fewer pages to open.

No problem and to keep on topic. I just shut off all in camera NR. Just to see the difference.

All I know is I want that suicidal cat as an animated avatar on POTN. I wonder how much $$$ I'd have to donate to Pekka to swing that....

comparing d3s with my 1d mk iii

It's not exactly a like for like comparison, is it? The Nikon is by far a later model with newer processors. The matter of default settings as raised before could have a bearing too. Have you examined these? That said, I still stand by the 1D3 producing sharp and indeed, clean images.

I finally figure out it out. It is the subject. Ovechkin has been as about as sharp as a marble these days.

could it be that the nikon camera has better high iso performance and its making my images appear softer because they are nosier?

Here is ISO 12,800 with my 7D. The D7000 has slightly better noise according to DXOmark but that has no bearing here.

Sorry everyone. I didn't mean for this to become a huge thing.

The only reason I brought this up is because of what I've been hearing from other professionals when on assignment.

Guys that have been shooting professionally for 30+ years with canon (film and digital). They've gone through almost every body released in that time. And all of the sudden they're spending tens of thousands of dollars switching over to Nikon. And there reason is because it produces sharper images.

The reason pros are using canon is because, a few years ago canon was the superior camera, especially for sport shooters. But it feels like they're slow to keep up with new technology. Why has it taken this long (with the 1dx) for canon to come out with a full frame camera that can shoot high frame rate?
The d3 has been doing 9fps with full frame since 2007

There is a big difference between sharp and OOF. Get your gear checked.

Now that we've finally established that NIKON is clearly sharper (and better) than Canon, can anyone explain why, oh why, is the cat so freaking funny?
Also, please explain how can I watch the .gif 100 times and still laugh my ass off?
If anyone has a scientific answer to offer, I'd greatly appreciate it...

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

Well if I were a judge in the olympics I'd give it a 10. After the leap the stretch is perfect followed by taking advantage of gravity gracefully.

To me is the moment he realizes he's not gonna make it and his back feet search for the ledge.

i have a bunch of friend shooting nikon and all of their shots seem to be so much sharper than mine.

what is it that makes canon slightly soft? lenses? bodies?

i shoot with a 5d mark ii and a 1d mark iii

i shoot with all L lenses

Some of the best photographers in the world and on POTN use the same canon gear you list. Go figure.
