He is almost 10 years old and spent his entire 10 years playing in the outdoors with us. However he is SLOWING WAY DOWN, but still loves nature. Thought I would take a few photo's on our run today. Your thoughts?

wonderful looking dog. The problem with the shots it the eye immediately locks onto the brightest part of the image. The waterfall in both. Oh, and there's a dog off to the left.

Nice to have beautiful scenery but the dog IS the subject, right?

Thanks for the critic, any advice how to fix, or do suggest removing the falls from backdrop?

@ Snyderman Is this better without the distraction of the falls?

Yes, definitely. It's kind of weird when in a park and have great backgrounds. As photographers, we tend to emphasize the BG because it's there and kind of forget to provide enough emphasis on the subject. What I like to do is move around a bit and experiment with angles that are going to throw the viewing eye onto the subject first.

What a great dog! He has such great character in his face, and you captured it beautifully. The black and white is just awesome. How could you be drawn to anything in the photo but that his expressive face? Take good care of him.

Thanks all. He is our first "child.". Our second is a mere 19month old princess, but they get along so well.

Thank you. He is my side kick everyday. At my feet at my desk when I am working, and on my hip when we are out in the woods playing!
