We were cleaning the cellar in preparation for tornado season here in SW MO and found this lil guy. I took a couple pics of him in the grass before returning him to his "home"

That's what I'm shooting now! :)
16-35 is so much better than the 17-40 (I had two) it's not even funny. Well a little funny! Finally convinced me the 5d would be better than a 60d for what I do.
You'll miss the 60d screen big time!
I'll be putting my APS-C kit up for sale soon, as I can't go hiking with two camera systems even though the 60d is better at many types of shots. I'll probably get a 5d3 eventually.

Do you have any new shots using the combo? I'm sure there will be several things that I will miss about the 60D!

The first shots I took with the 60D where of some scouts sledding, the faster FPS over the T2i was awesome!

This shot was taken with a dicapac underwater bag, it worked well I was worried about it leaking the whole time though.

I am really stoked on the LR4! This shot was kind of ass-butt before I ran it through LR4.

Hey, David. Your portraits are lightyears beyond any I ever took in my life, and I used to do it for a living! haha

Your creativity is also stronger than mine. I make nature do all of mine for me. ;)

I just traveled the entire West Coast and only got 3-4 keepers. I was mostly location scouting, so it is to be expected to have such a low keeper rate for over 2 weeks of traveling.

This shot here will easily print 40x60 to my standards. 5d2 + 16-35 II + Lee Filters.

By the way, after months of waiting my LEE BIG STOPPER will be here this Saturday. Should have ordered 10 of them, as they are going for 2-3 times the price on Ebay right now.

SoooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo stoked.

so, it's most definitely time for a new lens, but i'm kinda stuck as to which one. i've done lots of reading and perusing the lens sample archive, and narrowed it down to 2, but still can't quite make up my mind.

anyone have experience with either the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM or Canon's 17-40L on a 60D?

This will mostly be used as a general walk-around lens and they're both within my current budget. does the IQ of the 17-40mm make up for the difference in max aperture?

17-40 is crap on a 60D. Go with the 17-50 unless you plan to upgrade to FF soon.

The Sigma 17-70 OS is also a supreme lens and costs much less. It's the sharpest lens I have ever used on my 60D at the wide end. Better zoom range as a walkaround too.

I was already leaning towards the 17-50, but that kinda helped push me over the edge lol
the lure of the magical L is strong, but the 17-50 does make more sense. thanks for the input.

I have the Sigma 17-50 and it's awesome. very quick and quiet. Not to mention spot on.
