I was quite surprised to see that Sandisk didn't make the list.

I am shooting with a T3, unlike the higher end bodies it uses a SD card, should I not be using the built in SD reader on my laptop?

If it works, speed is good and you're happy with it then there's no point fixing what ain't broke :D.

Yea I dont think that list means anything. Based on what criteria did they chose any of those readers? What program did they use for speed tests? What all other readers did they test? Id say that link is pretty much worthless.

I have been unimporessed with there Top 10 on other occasions. There reviews did not even consider whether the readers were USB 3.0 capable.

For those interested in USB 3.0 readers I have tested about a dozen, results here: http://usb3.thedocaus.com/ (external link)

I bought each reader, I have no links with any of the makers and I have been paid nothing to do it.

They did, they are the 2 called ImageMate. They left off SanDisk.

That is a silly top 10 card reader list. Who uses a USB 2.0 card reader? They should at least include USB 3.0 and Firewire 400/800.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Well actually Patrick, I'm still using the little $19.95 Sandisk USB 2.0 that I bought 6 years ago when I converted to digital :D. It's gotten me through an awful lot of wedding images ;).

I think Patrick was making the point that any decent review now must consider USB 3.0, at least in part. And he would be right.

Oh, I would most certainly agree without a doubt.;) But the fact remains that a lot of PC's either don't support 3.0 unless they came with it or the user added a card that provided it. I would buy a 3.0 reader though if I were shopping for one.

True, but many computers/laptops from a couple of years ago support PCI-Express, and/or FireWire, and none of the readers tagged there seem to support those, either.

So the thread was also about what people are using more than the top 10....sorry....people seem to be using many different varieties.

Seems to be some good ones around, I also didn't realise Sandisk had changed or sold the rights to their card reader..

What are peoples thoughts on the Lexar one??
