I bought one of these for my EOS 50D back in 2008 and loved it. Ended up selling my camera gear due to getting laid off. Recently bought an EOS 60D with the kit 18-135 lens, and although the 18-135 is a nice lens considering its extreme zoom range, it had this kind of nagging softness sometimes, and the AF is very slow. I picked up a very slightly used 17-50 non-VC from a local seller for a great price and am just as happy with this one as I was with the last one. No focus issues at all. This is a mighty fine walk-around lens.

I keep my photos on SmugMug: (http://michaelnel.smugmug.com (external link))

Out and about hunting a sunset this evening, not as spectacular as I had hoped but pretty nevertheless.

No, no, its not what I meant... I mean for other occasions. Hows the weight and size of that lens on a small body?

my 400d is gripped so its fine. the weight is noticable but i quickly forget it everytime i bust out shots like this:

Thanks! It's all just north of San Francisco at the Marin Headlands. Lots of cool old WW2 bunkers.

Any comments regarding auto focus speed and accuracy of this lens on 50D body, when shooting indoors? How is the auto focus speed compared to EF 50mm f/1.4 for example?
Thanks in advance!
