I found this a difficult lens to use.
The focussing was difficult at f/1.2
In the espresso cup shot example the focus seemed to complete be off (even though it was confirmed through the viewfinder).
Even the dog picture the depth of field is incredibly narrow and the focus not entirely sharp but when you do manage to get it right the effect is pretty good.
Examples: Bad, Better, Best shots

I believe that's just the nature of the beast. What I found while I had mine is that certain type of light (incandescent) effects AF reliability, backlit objects also effect AF, low contrast object effect AF too and then you have to watch your distance to the subject too not to get focus shift. Lots of things to monitor constantly with this lens ... Oh, couple of other things - not all AF points work well with it on my 5DII AND plane of focus isn't flat but curved so focus/recompose is a no no. FUN!

I DID like the build quality, the colours, the hood and the focal length and every aperture above f/2

I only rented it for a few days along with the 35L and unfortunately didn't have as much time to shoot as I'd have liked.

Woukd I buy this over any other 50mm lens if I had the money? YES

It took a while for me to learn to know the advantages and disadvantages to use it.
When you know it gives you just dreams;)
