These are some of my first birding shots that I captured during a recent zoo outing. I know that's probably a little like cheating on this thread, but it has inspired me to want to capture more bird shots. Comments and Critiques are certainly welcome. Shot with T2i and Kodak Gear 78-215mm.

Great colours, the reds in #1 need pulling back a bit, at least you are getting some good practice shooting at the Zoo.

good job and Joe is right.
The zoo is a great place to hone your skills (practice).
The birds cant go far and are used to humans so you can get close.

go as often as possible.
dont use AUTO mode (green box)
experiment with TV (shutter priority) AV (aperture priority) and M (manual) mode on your dial.
you will get better results using one of these 3 over the green box.

if you want setting advice for each let us know.

Thank you, folks.

Camera has been set to manual since it arrived, as I was used to that from my old Minolta manual SLR. I still haven't gotten used to auto focus yet. But yes, setting advice would be fantastic.

I'm slowly getting acclimated to LR, but I'm not sure where I should go to pull back the colors. I assume it is in the Color section, but which slider(s) would be best for this job?

Thanks again,
Mason

Much better Mason, I don't have LR, but there are plenty of tutorials on the net, like this one - http://blog.aftercapture.com …saturation-and-luminance/ (external link)
