I do initial work in LR, including sharpening and certainly darkening and lightening. Once in Silver, I always start with a preset, and then go from there. I tend to use 5,6, 15-16, 19-20, as my kick-off place. I didn't know for quite a while that all the other controllers (contrast, for example) expand into three sub-sliders. Really powerful what you can do! I then work my way down through everything. Sometimes I will make several completely different versions of one photo. That is one thing that irritates me about the program: once you are "done" it closes up and then you have to start over from scratch. Or is there something I am missing?

When I go back to LR, I often darken a bit more, and may add a touch of contrast. Sometimes I reduce sharpening if I find I've gone overboard (easy to do...).

It's been awhile and I had a few minutes to kill so here goes.

Glad to see this thread getting busy. I enjoy converting to B/W with this filter and playing with the various settings.

I think the OP was encouraging us to talk more about workflow and techniques. Precious little of that so far. I use this program a lot, and feel I know it pretty well, but today just accidentally discovered the loop function. I wonder what else I don't know?

Here are two edits of the same photo. I think stuff like this really shows off just how powerful this program is. And I did these back before I even knew what I was doing :) With Silver, this is a breeze.

Nice A2ARF shots! Probably equally as stunning in color out over the ocean!

In a similar vein:

Thanks, you are right about the color though, I actually like them better in color.
