My ideal set on 7D would be:

17-40L
35L
24-105L
85 1.8
70-200L IS II

Mayber 100-400L or a long prime like 300mm or 400mm

I'm pretty much set, but I might consider a TSE for a bit of experimentation and if the Siggy 50/1.4 ever dies, I'll replace it with a 50L.

My current 5 lens bag:

24LII
35L
50/1.4
85L
70-200/2.8L IS

I HAVE HAD to choose only 3 for right now. For my 5D3 I bought:

50 1.4
24-105 4
70-200 2.8 IS II

I am very very happy right now :-)

Only after I've shot a lot more with these will I take a look at what I'm lacking and make a decision as to a future lens. But that won't be for a while now unless I want to unleash the wrath of my wife.

5D Mark III | EF 50 ƒ/1.4, EF 24-105L ƒ/4, EF 70-200L ƒ/2.8 IS II, EF 16-35L ƒ/2.8 II, MP-E65, EF 100L ƒ/2.8 IS Macro | 600EX-RT, 320EX, MT-24EX

These are the 5 lens I have now and I think I might add a general purpose new Tamron 24-70 IS as well as the rumored 100-400 II for wildlife and birding in the near future.

1. 17-40 f4 ( for landscape, you don't need 2.8 and it is just as sharp or sharper than the 16-35 at f8 and smaller).

2. 24 1.4 II (for group portrait, landscape, night photography)

3. 35 1.4 (general purpose walk around, portrait, and low light)

4. 100 2.8L Macro (upper body portrait, Macro photo)

5. 70-200 f4 IS (light landscape telephoto lens, outdoor sports. Much lighter than the 2.8 version which is important for long hike)

Canon 5d Mark II / EF 24mm f/1.4 IIL / EF 70-200mm f/4 ISL / EF 16-35mm f/4 ISL / EF 24-70mm f/2.8 IIL

This is my current 3 lens kit for my 5D2:

24-105L
85L
70-300L

But that's kinda heavy to carry around, so I'm thinking 35L + 70-300L.

I will be getting a macro lens soon, not sure which one. Also a wide prime, but I might wait till summer to see how well the 28mm f2.8 IS fares.

So for a 5 lens kit, and since this is fantasy I'd probably say this for now:

24-105L
85L
70-300L (Definitely the 70-200 killer in normal daylight)
100L macro
14mm L

■ Canon 5D MkII ■ 14LII ■ 35L ■ 85LII ■ 100L ■ 24-105L ■ 70-300L

So in a perfect world my 5 lens kit on my 5dmkii would be..
Canon 24-70L 2.8
Canon 70-200L 2.8
Canon 14L 2.8
Canon 85L 1.2
Canon 50L 1.2

This is what's in my 5 lens bag until the world becomes perfect..
Canon 24-70L 2.8
Canon 70-200L f4 non IS (might actually stick with this, due to the weight factor and because of the fact that I only really shoot with it in daylight)
Rokinon 14mm 2.8
Canon 85 1.8
Canon 50 1.8
