Fair warning... Long story.
I began tonight by going to the local camera store while out running errands with my wife and daughter. My wife gave the go ahead to buy some macro accessories I need but opted to stay out in the car. I went in, grabbed what I needed, and went to the counter. Of course, there just so happened to be a 5D Mark III sitting there. I couldn't resist and asked to play around a bit. As soon as I touched it I wanted one.
I gave it back, had a brief discussion, and left the store with lust in my heart. I got to the car, told my wife I had fallen in love with someone else, and she just laughed at me. I kept mentioning how great it felt, how quickly it focussed, blah blah. When we got out of the car she turned to me and said "Buy one."
I had to pick my jaw off the ground and process for a bit before asking... "Really?". Next thing I know we"re at Nebraska Furniture Mart checking out their pricing. They were all out of bodies only so I figured I would just be putting one on order.
"Why don't you get the last kit they have?"
"Because I already have a 24-105 and it's more expensive to buy the kit."
"Can't you sell your old one and make up the difference? Then you have a new camera and a new 24-105."
I picked my jaw up again and now I'm the proud owner of a 5D3. My old 24-105 will up for sale tomorrow (Provided the new one is up to par) and I'm on cloud flippin nine.
So what's the point? I just really wanted to share with the world (At least this small POTN portion of it) how amazing my wife is. Now I just need to get comfortable with the new camera before the wedding I have next weekend.
Haha! A local! 108th location or 168th? I was up at the 168th street store today, mainly to get a copy of the new version of DPP.
Congrats on the 5D3. I think I may just go through their pile of used 5D2s and pick up the best copy.
