I did a search on the forum and found nothing but just to tease some of you guys here, David Riesenberg released concept for a
mirrorless Canon. Dubbed the Canon AE-D. I saw the article on petapixel just wondering what you guys think of it. Yay! or Nay!
Personally I would love one myself esp if it has an EF mount. And to make it more affordable a crop sensor wouldn't be bad either.

That would be revolutionary, a Canon with a stationary mirror. And if they wanted to be really original they could give it a wilder name than the boring AE-D. How about "Pellix".

I'm confused... if it's mirrorless - then what's the pentaprism for?

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", 1D MK II converted for IR, and now an M5
TF posting: here :-)

He spent an awful lot of time in CAD to do something he could have done in a few hours with an old film body, an old lens, and some decals.

Also I don't see a reason to move this to industry news since it isn't news at all.

There is no prism. There is just the prism "hump", but it is actually a removable Electronic Viewfinder that changes this from a Mirrorless to an EVIL. Not that it matters since he just made it up.

The Pellix does have a fixed, semitransparent mirror, hence the pentaprism.

I love that on/off switch, shutter, and cable release in the first post. Brings back memories of my AE-1. I'd pay an extra $400 for that feature alone.

If Canon is to do this right coming into the game so late, Canon better deliver on an excellent selection of fast primes and decent zooms at launch.

Esp if they brought back the 50 f/1! Other than that i love if they didnt add an articulating screen.

Oly and Fuji are riding the retro train enough for everyone, I'm hoping Canon doesn't follow suit.

No. Ergonomics of that thing look absolutely horrid. And it's probably too small.
