Sandra,
If it was FIP you did him a big favor. It isn't easy doing this and I have done it a few times with my cats. They were all in pain and nothing could be done at all to save them. As you can tell, no one is telling you that you made the wrong decision. You were always around for him which probably made him happier.

Thanks Kevin, we don't know yet what the reason was, will find out next week. I had to make this decision sooner as his poor body couldn't hold on any more....

Sandra, I am so sad to here the news about Stapper. It is so hard to say goodbye to our little furry companions after they have stolen our hearts.

Yes it is, we have been through a lot together and he shall be missed dearly..

Sandra going over stapper's story, I had tears more than once and share your sorrow.

Life as we know it is doom with demise, the moment a fertilization occurs. And its always TOO SHORT.
Non the less any form of life is sweet for itself and has a purpose.
Two characteristics that are often anticipated with a proper death are Dignity and Painfree.
You surely has done your part at best to achieve it and don't look back unless to see the most happy moments you had with Stapper.

Don't try to see him in any other cat as he is in a very better place and then you don't let a new kitty to have shown you his or her best self. Early last year, my cat-daughter Everst, brought 4 trouble maker that are sweeter than sugar, into our life. If you happened to be close to LA come and pick up one from me, that is if you don't have another trouble maker, already.

As cat lover we all will go through your steps one day or another but this should not stop any one to show his or her love to these furry creature that truly bring unconditional love into our daily life.

Be patient and strong. There are so many unfortunate cats out there needing kind people like you.

Thank you for these words...I still have one trouble maker home with me...one day there is place in my heart for new love. But not right now....would love to pick one up. But I live in the Netherlands....:D

I gave tight hugs to all my kitties - don't know what else to do.
Farewell Stapper, may you join your sisters.

Sandra, sorry for the loss, but you have done everything you could as the loving owner and Stapper will no doubt appreciate all the love he had received from you during his life.

Nicely said Mu.

A good friend of mine adopted 2 kittens over the last 5 months and one of them came up FIV+, she lost him yesterday as well, but he had a wonderful short life with great skin parents and a big golden retriever best buddy and another kitten to play with.

We do what we can and because we love them so we end their suffering in a humane and caring way.I thought I would never get another cat after my beloved Puck passed at 18, but within 2 months I had a new kitten because I just couldn't live without a cat in my life!! And then I got another, lol!!

kitty kisses to you Sandra!!

I'm really sorry to hear Stapper didn't make it.

It worries me every time I realize that my two oldest cats are almost 13-years-old now. I don't want to admit to myself that they won't be around much longer. It isn't fair that our little furry friends don't get to stay with us long enough!

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

Thank you Thomas, yes it is very painful for me right now. And Misty is almost 15 now. Sister loedertje died at 12 but Jazzy lived to be 18 year old. I hope Misty will do too. But as I learned once again, it can be over in a wink of an eye. I didn't see it coming and I didn't expect this to happen...it is not fair...but I know i have to learn to live with it once again..and I will one day....
