I had to scoop up this deal. I was tempted at $1800 with the Beach Camera deal the other night. Now at $1500, I didn't even think about it.

I probably would have bought a 5D3 if the price was closer to $3000-3100. I wonder how many people are in similar situations. I couldn't justify $2000 extra for primarily getting a huge AF bump. I know the camera has more bells and whistles, but that's what it primarily did. And I'll gladly buy one down the road, but not at $3500. So I wonder what Canon is thinking here. It's probably inconsequential anyway, but I bet they had a bigger stock on Mk2s from recent buyers who returned once the mk3 was announced.

Most refurbished items are in almost new like condition. Kinda like demo some are even pristine. I bought two refurbished items before and they look new.

These prices are lower than when the 5DII was on the CLP a year and a half ago!

Yes, keyword "most". ;) Based upon what others have posted in the past in the various CLP threads on POTN not everyone had received a trouble free or "new looking" body, and few of those problems were 5DMk2's back when they were included in the CLP. Let's hope Canon's quality control on the 5D2 refurbs has improved since that period of time.

I bet they had a flood of returns from recent buyers in the past 3 weeks as the new 5d3 was announced. BIgger supply, had to push the price down. At least that's the story I'm sticking with. I'll post the shutter count and overall condition when I get it. Worst case, I return it, and go back on my eternal mk2 vs. mk3 struggle.

I'm hoping this is the case as well. :)

I'll also post the condition and shutter count once I receive it. :D
