Took a trip out to an animal preserve last week. Found this peacock free roaming but obviously very tame as he came up really close to me. He followed me around for a bit then wandered off. I have already quite a few of the standard peacock photographs with the tail open in display. So I took a different approach with this series. Was having fun until he went CACAAWW right in my face. So loud! (See the last pic)

Gear used: Canon 7D + 70-200L, 1.4x tc handheld.

Lovely study of the Peacock and it's finery!
You've got some amazing captures of the tail and fine feather details. Very impressive!
And yes, they are very loud when belting out a call, but I love the last image.

Thank you! I really love the colors that are on a peacock, they are so vibrant. So I wanted to try to capture that. They are kind of a common image in people minds I think, so showing their color in a more unique way was my goal. In retrospect I think I should have tried to get some up close shots of the peacock's crown too and not only focused on the tail and back.

Great catch, they're loud as heck though.
