Some one locally is selling great condition 5d mark II with 9 k auctiations for $1650.00 . Do you think that it'll keep dropping a considerable amount or just buy that price?

I don't mean to sound like a d*&#, but you might want to take another stab at your question.

I don't know if I'd pay that price. I'd go in offering this price, but settle with this price. Paying more than that is just over paying.

A considerable amount, i don't think so. I would buy it as things might go back up a bit when the initial rush wears off.

I wouldn't pay that. You can get a refurb from Canon for $1759 when they have them in stock. http://shop.usa.canon.com …uct_10051_10051_214217_-1 (external link)

Thats a pretty good price if its super clean. Right now people are feeling the 5d3. this will level off a prices will adjust accordingly. I think they will adjust to about 1600-1800 for a really clean one. The canon refurbished program is good as well but the warranty is only 3 months I believe. For example if I sold my camera today since it is still very new, I still have 9 months available in the warranty. I think you have to look at what the camera upgrade will do for you. Will you do better work? Will all your lenses work? The image quality is nice but if you take sh1tty photos they will still be sh1tty photos.

Dear 5D2 owners. Your cameras are going to depreciate, and not go back up in value. Accept it and move on.

I picked up a 5D2 with 5k actuations for $1625 with an extra battery because I missed the refurb pricing with the 15% off. The 5D2 is a great camera and I don't think you can really go wrong with a price that's almost 2k less than the price for the 5D3.

I'd offer 1600. You'll probably get met in the middle around $1625.

The refurbs sold for 1499 last sunday, so if you want the absolute lowest prices, set up some alert system. Hell, I got my 5D2 NEW for near that price :P

If I were in your shoes I'd try to wait it out for something around the 1500 sweet spot.

I think it is fair price. Since it is local, I would look at the body first before jumping in.

You might want to have the shutter count verified...before meeting up.

As one mentioned "price might go up"...I am not sure about going up, but it will stabilize around $1750 give or take $50 or so.
Canon refurb deal is nice...however, 1) you need to find it in stock, 2) if you live in a state where they charge sales tax (in my case 8.25%), you are already reaching at a price point closer to the new one after tax...so you have to take that into consideration as well.
