Thanks man, yeah she is. :D

Id suggest you use the 30mm at f1.4 outdoors and the 17-50mm indoors and only if you have a backdrop. Im a huge fan of DOF and for lights id say put one behind them as a hairlight and another to the left or right of there face at like a 45degree angle.

Vin, your 17-50 inside, 30mm outside. I'd shoot one speed light camera left, one camera right. With more than one model, you don't want one to cast a shadow on the other.

Oh and practice before. You need to be confident in yourself and look like you know what you are doing.

Thanks guys.... you both suggested the same lens for outside and inside. would you mind tell me why?

is it because i don't have much room inside to use the 30mm?

On my 430EX II do i have to set it in manual mode(not ETTL) and just play with the power?

Nice shots. I like the B/W overexposure.

Are the vignettes added on in PP, or were you using a snoot for the "Us" shots?

i'd just stick to the 17-50 unless you really need the large aperture - which i never need.

the 17-50 is sharp at 2.8 and gets even better when you stop it down

though most lenses are pretty sharp past f4

i'd look into getting a longer lens for portraits though if thats what you want to shoot

i'd keep your flashes on manual and off the camera.

Thanks! There was no Vignette added in the "Us" picture. It was my Wide Angel (10-22) with the 580ex2 attached on camera pointed directly at us but no vignetting was added in that photo.

My 60D's shutter curtain failed on me last weekend while I was shooting photos for a very important portfolio in San Francisco. :( I just brought it to best buy and thankfully it's still under warranty (from bestbuy not canon) I hope they fix up the bad grip on it to while it's at their repair shop.

you're kinda making it sound like Jonny doesn't want to help. that doesn't seem very respectful. :(

I've spoken to a few times before and he's an awesome dude and I'm sure he meant no disrespect! :) thanks mondayshift! :D

Awesome shots love the second diptych Daniel!!

Our usual gray, rainy Seattle weather seems to be sticking around a lot longer than usual this year. As much as I love the rain, I was actually complaining about it yesterday because it's been absolute CRAP for light (I prefer natural light most of the time.) Fortunately today at least we got better cloud cover and real rain instead of just drizzle, which meant finally useable weather! I hauled my macro down to the park and used the daffodils as focus practice again.

Haha I could.. :D But like many other photogs, my post processing is my super secret special ingredient of mine ;)

Now a days I don't even know what I do to mine, I just slide and mask around for a few. Never comes out the same twice.

So I guess the 365 was too hard to keep up. Too busy with life already?
