Kinda in the market for one, so swung by my local camera store and they have a used one. Includes all the original stuff. Camera actually looks like it has never been shot - LCDs are spotless, body is spotless, even the hotshoe is scratch free. I would bet well under 5k.

They're asking $1079, which is seems high to me even given the condition. What would you pay?

You have to check the past sales in the forum for a fair price. Also I would only buy from this forum.

You see them going on ebay for ~$800 in slightly worse condition than that.

Personally I'd not pay over $700. But thats just me.

I have seen them as low as $650 on the for sale forum here. A lot of people bought the Refurbished 5DII so the price has really dropped on the 5DC for now.

I bought a gripped one, 10k on the shutter with RRS L bracket for $800. I'd happily pay that again, it's a great body.

I would look for one that looks to be in excellent cosmetic condition. A great many were used by pros and show the wear.

I think a mint condition body with 5k on the shutter should go for about 800-850, any more and you're being taken for a ride. Cosmetic blemishes, high shutter actuations or missing parts from the "as new" box go down from there.

But the price is too high. No way of checking shutter count on this camera.

Price seems a bit high, especially if you still have to add sales tax.

Stores add their high margin and then you have to pay taxes on top of it.
I have my from next street from our home photog. Purchased in Jan 2011, 1100 USD, as new condition, last year of production, three original batteries, Canon grip, cleaned by Canon.

I just payed $875 for a 5DC on Fredmiranda. It was in perfect cosmetic condition, the serial number begins with a 3 so it was manufactured relatively recently and had an upgraded screen, the seller was the original owner and could give a pretty exact shutter count (under 3k) and it had just been in to Canon for routine maintenance and was given a clean bill of health. I was willing to pay a bit more than the average going price because I could verify that the camera was in excellent condition. You do see a lot of 5Ds going for $800 or lower, but looking at some of the cosmetic damage on these bodies its hard to know how well the internals are functioning.

how would paint scuffs and wear marks have any bearing on internal functioning? i've had my relatively pristine 5D2 camera throw many more error codes than my burnished 5Dc.
