I've been using the Sony e-reader for about 3 years now and have never purchased a book.

I borrow ebooks from my library and transfer them to my reader.

All it takes is a library card.

I just picked up the new Sony e-reader for the wife and this one has built in wi-fi and connects directly to my (or yours) library.

Wife can check out her books directly on the sony

About $120 from B&H

You forgot the "NONE of the Above. Don't need no stinking Tablet" answer on your poll :-P

Agreed ;) Tried some of my friends tablets, not interested.

^^ How much do you fly?

One of the best times to have an iPad is on a long flight.

I got the Nook and hacked it into an Android tablet. I can put whatever e-books I want on it now, as well as use all regular Android apps and such. And it was pretty cheap I got it for $150.

Did the same here with my Nook and love it.

It depends what you need it for really, I voted ipad as best because it can do more for me as a photographer, but if I was just looking for one of those tools of the devil*, an e-reader, with no need for the ability to wireless tether my camera, show my portfolio, handle signing of contracts and releases, take credit cards etc. as well as having many, many useful apps for a photographer, then a kindle would probably be the better choice.

* I've just been made redundant due to the decline in people using real books, so I am not a fan of e-readers.

It really does depend on what you want to do with the device. I do my reading on a kindle - no eye strain and easy to hold for hours. I play games, watch movies and tv and keep photos on my ipad 2. And I take them both when I travel.
