Singing Meadowlark

Meadowlarks are one of my favorite birds. They are very pretty, common in certain areas, and have one of the prettiest songs I have heard. Still hoping to get them in a more natural setting, but had to settle for this old wet fence post.

That's a very pretty rendition of the Meadowlark Jason w/a beautifully muted background.
I'm sure you already know this, but fence posts and power lines are among their favorite perches from which to belt one out. Your fence post perch in this capture is much more pleasing to the eye than any old power line - :)

In South Dakota the fence post is their natural setting. Was out yesterday shooting them myself.
