Show me your camera bag

I'd have a 17-40 mounted. I'm just looking for basically the smallest messenger bag possible to just throw the body/lens in for walking around.

I took my camera on vacation, and my bag was a poor choice. I took my retro10 to carry my dslr with grip, and single lens. I used the raincover, and hated it. (see edit) The bag was much larger than I needed. After the first day and 15 miles of walking, I left the bag in the hotel.
When I came home, I bought a Billingham Hadley Digital to carry my d300s with 18-200 mounted. The camera fits easily in this bag; it is a shooter's bag. My camera is always protected from rain. I can pull the camera out quickly and shoot. I have added a pad on the strap.
Surprise! I can carry that rig with the grip attached! It is a tight fit.
Regrets? I would like a little bit larger bag.

My Domke F3X is exceptional. It carries more gear, very well. I slip a garbage bag into it in case the weather is really nasty. I should have taken that bag to Cape Cod.

I have another, more unusual bag. I sometimes use a Maxpedition Colossus. It allows me to carry other gear as well. However, it is not so comfortable to carry. It looks nasty.

edit: Just found the video on the Think Tank site showing how to use the raincover. It explains it well. However, before saw the video, on Cape Cod with an Atlantic storm approaching, and putting the cover on without help, I didn't like it at all! Now understanding this feature, Perhaps a Retro20 is in the books...Before seeing the video, putting the raincover on was like assembling a Thule rack....or IKEA furniture

As for carrying a Pro DSLR with only one Lens attached, I'm almost sure it will fit, BUT, as long as its ungripped(so 1D series counts out) with a medium sized prime such as the 50L and maybe 85L.

My 'day bag'. Billingham 207 stuffed with a Canon 1 series and 50mm lens (camera on its side so I can grab the grip from above). Flash in the insert and space for 1 more lens (or 2 stacked).

I have misc items pushed into the 'fob' to the back and front of the main compartment. Filters and batteries go into the 2 front pockets.

ugh ... I am totally confused and sick of bleeding money in bags ... I bought the Lowepro A100 like 5 years ago and have outgrown it now with my latest glass & set up ... I just need a should-type bag with 'decent' padding that accommodates 1 Body w lens attached, 2 additional lenses, and a flash / cleaning stuff. All without spending a fortune on a bag.. too much to ask ?? lol

Why do you need padding? For day use, I use various Domke bags. For multiply day trips I use an f-stop backpack.

Yes, definitely too much to ask. Bags are like socks, you need 2 for every day of the week.

tenba mini messenger should fit the bill. its fairly inexpensive and fits my body and 2 lenses.

Does anyone know if the Versa bags are still available? I've tried several of the links that were posted (two years ago) but none of those online retailers seem to carry them anymore. Google came up empty as well.

After 2 yrs of using my faithful Canon deluxe 200I finally got a replacement and it is the Tamrac 759 got it used but it is in excellent condition and could not believed it is only $15.00 used ones in Amazon is 13x.xx and 29x.xx for a brand new one. Love this bag. and here it is.

I have the retro 10 and the 5, the 5 won't work for a Gripped DSLR (or 1D sized) the 10 however is perfect for such gear.

In the 5 I can fit a 5D with 35L attached (no grip) and a 135L in the side. Both with hoods. It's tight, but works fine because when you're out shooting your camera will be in hand anyways.

Edit: I suppose if you had nothing else in the bag and no lens mounted you could surely fit a Pro body in the retro 5, but I'm not sure what the point would be?
