Alright, ive been on here for a little while now, i have tried out alot of different types of cameras...(Canon 40D,50D,7D,5D,....Nikon D300s, D700...Sony A300, A900.)

Out of all of them...and all of the files i have seen....The 5Dc and 1dsmk2 seem to have the absolutely best files I have seen(just a special look to them)! I dont know what it is about them....Anyone know??? To me the 5dmk2 does not have the same.....look to its files...No Nikon has this quality....

Any who...Any other camera that i might have missed that also seem to have this special quality??
I have been looking at the 1dmk2 and 1dmk3....they just dont seem to have the same punch as the 5dc and 1dsmk2...or am i wrong?

I believe it should be 2300-0200hrs in the states, you're most likely not going to have much traffic in a half hour. I can only speak to the 1D classic but it certainly had a certain quality to the files that I have not seen from 350d or 30d. I have a 5Dc on it's way and I'm hoping it has that type of quality as everyone raves about it. Just curious, why the 1 over the 5?

For me, the 1Ds was really special. Color rendition and a magical film-like quality with iso 400 files were just splendid.

Also, in my opinion the 10D rendered red the best of all Canon dslrs, then and now. And the 1D packed a a lot into it's files, even though it was 4.1 mp the files seemed to have more than that.

Just my two-cents.

I've never used the 1dsmkII, but I completely agree that the 5dc has a much more organic file than the 5dmkII. The colors and tones are much more pleasing to my eye. Personally, with the exception of the high ISO, the 5dc was a much better body than the mkII has been for me. I hope the 5dmkIII files will be more like the 5dc's were, but probably not. At least it will focus!

LOL! yea I know it... Maybe some more tomorrow. When I had the 5Dc i love everything about it expect the AF. It was good. But i shoot dance for a local school and didnt quite cut it.
The
D700 does fine in this regard....I use it for that...But thats why I want a 1d series.
The 5dc does infact have that "quality"(atleast in my eyes) as does the 1dsmk2.
This camera will be specifically just for stuff at home, and taking pictures of my dog(hence why the fast AF is needed).
Im going to be unloading some of my nikon lenses in order to get my canon gear. :)
So pricing the 1dmk2 would be awesome just for the fact you can get one around 500-700 range. All the rest could go towards glass. But i just havent seen the ....."special quality"....that im looking for.

It could be just how they were all processed.....I dunno...Thats what im wanting to know...

I currently have both the 5Dc and the 1DsII. I bought the 5D first and fell in love with the pictures it takes. The camera itself was so simple. No bells and whistles and I kept telling people that it just plain takes beautiful pictures! It's one of the reasons I went with the 1DsMkii instead of a 5dii to complement it. They're both from the same generation of Canon Cameras and both use Digic II (I believe) processing. So far so good. They do their first wedding together for me on Saturday!

Hi, I think the same about the 5Dc. I currently own a 5Dc and a 1Dmk2 and wanted to add a 5d mk2 but get rid of one of my bodies. I had a 5dmk2 for 2 days to play with and the colors were different, I mean I liked the classic better in this regard. But it doesn`t take much to set it in PP when shooting in Raw. What I was looking for was better high Iso but from the test shots I did, 5d mk2 doesnt really convince me. So I`m keeping my "old school" cameras for now.
BTW both the 5Dc and 1d mk2 have this specific look of the files but different. I like the 1d look too and I think you wouldn`t be disappointed with it. Files are sharp and very usable up to 1600iso.
cheers :)

One more thing - in the "older" cameras Canon used to put real RGB filter that produce better reds than current cameras. Whatever it means I`m happier knowing that

I still love my 5Dc after using my 5D3. Nothing wrong with that camera at all (besides dust, slow AF)

Thank you for this thread. I feel better that I'm not delusional w.r.t. my 'old camera love'. Or if I am delusional, at least I now know that I have company. 8-)

Weak AA filter, large pixel pitch, great DIGIC II cpu all contribute to why the 5dc & 1dsII are such great classic DSLRs. It was designed in an era where the industry was aiming to get the best IQ output from the camera. Behest of video capabilities, HDR, large LCD, walk the dog, etc...

Just good old fashion great image making devices.

I just went from the 1DsII to the 5DII and was really impressed with the difference. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree but IMO the 5DII and 5Dc were perfect SOOC most of the time Edit* compared to the 1DsII.
