Nice Gabe!! Oh yeah, mine is due to arrive anytime. That last shot gave me some hope because I intend to use it for sports.

My Sigma 120-300 OS arrived today. I have never owned Sigma lenses before, but this thread and the pictures on it convinced me. Also, I rentedone when I was on holiday last year and had some pretty good results. I also discovered that I need to start working on my long lens technique before I get pictures as good as Gabe's . Gabe you should be commission from Sigma as I am sure you have convinced many to buy one.

For stationary shots like some posted, I find the new OS in the 120-300 (compared to the non-OS version I had before) makes up for a lack of long lens technique in some instances, especially if you're hand holding it like I normally do.

I sold a Canon 300mm non-IS to buy the Sigma, and I'm happy I did.

Bad update. The OS in my lens stopped working. It only clicks and jerks the image once or twice, that's it. Even in OFF mode it clicks and jerks the image.
Went to a nature refuge today, took my lens + 7D out of the backpack and it wasn't working.

I guess I have to send it in :(

Uh Oh. The guys from LensRentals.com said that, although they have liked the optics, have had a significant amount of electronic failure in this lens. I'm going to need to re-think this one.

It is. Sigma EX lenses have 4 years in the US (and I think 10 in Canada)

Yikes... Gabe. Sorry to hear that. Hope it goes well with the repair. Would be interesting to hear what Sigma has to say about this.

Meanwhile, I just received my lens. Dang, that front element is massive. Will test it out later tonight.

I had the same thing happen about 2 months ago. Sent it in and they replaced the OS system. Had it back in a week. Call them every couple days because they did not email me when they shipped it back and when I called they said it shipped yesterday so I asked for tracking # and it said it was getting delivered today so I hung in for the deliverey. Otherwise I would of missed it.

It is a bit disturbing to hear about all of the electronic failures with this lens. I can imagine taking it on an exotic birding trip and having it fail. I wonder if most failures will happen early in the life of the lens.

That sucks had the sharpest one I have seen examples from. I hope that doesn't change when they replace the os unit.

If they do it right, it shouldn't. Or at least I hope it won't.
With the OS dead, my IQ was a bit worse too. I think that's due to something being screwed up in the OS element. Like I said, there was no way to completely disengage the OS, it was clicking and occasionally jerking the image even in the OS OFF position.

Nevertheless, a few photos from today, even though my keeper rate was down. Keep in mind that today, again, I used the 2x TC for all my photos.
