Here's some more lightning shots from central Indiana (Greenfield) on March 23, 2012. I had to bail out early on this storm since it was severe and approaching directly at me.....not to mention I had to get back home to watch the IU-Kentucky basketball game!

Nicely done. Lightning can get real exciting real fast. Haven't seen this type activity in years.

And up in Noblesville I was happy to get some shots with a purple sky... been trying lightning shots from my house, but being in a neighborhood I just miss so much of the show.

Thanks all. Here's the exif on the photos.

Camera Model: Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
Lens: EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
Image Date: 2012-03-23
Focal Length: - varied on each from 70-102mm or so.
Aperture: f/4.5
Exposure Time: 15.000 s
ISO equiv: 100
Exposure: Manual
Exposure Mode: Manual
Photographer: Scott Richardson
Copyright: Scott Richardson Photography
Software: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.0 (Windows)

I used an Aputure intervalometer set to 18 second intervals paired with a 15 second exposure setting on the camera. This way I could hide out in the car when the lightning got a bit close for comfort and the rain picked up.
