The thing with the 35 focal length is its harder to get away with just putting the subject in focus and just destroying the background. You have to be more aware of the entire frame.

Exactly right. Framing is much more important with the 35. The background is just as important (or should be) as your primary subject. That's exactly the quality that makes it such a great editorial focal length.

That's pretty much where I'm leaning, but I kind of want it to be a bit more unscripted or candid.. that would make it much more interesting though. Hm..

Well I could not stay away from it for long! Only a month or so after I sold it, I bought another 35L... I miss it too much. Especially with the 5D3's insane high ISO performance and AF system, makes me even more excited for it! I think I may unload my 24-105L all together and just use the 35L as my go-to lens. The 24-105 is awesome, it just gets much less use compared to my 70-200 II, 135L and my 14mm when I need something that wide... But I was looking through my 35L pictures and just knew I had to have it back. It is a killer lens. I still think the colors from this lens are some of the best I have ever seen.

Just added this lens to the line up.... First gig with it is tomorrow~
