Tenba insert in Billingham Hadley Large

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 400 | MIME changed to 'text/html'

The Tenba insert is smaller than the Hadley Large insert, so there is more wiggle room in the bag. The material is nylon, feels slick compared to the Billingham's felt. When loaded up, the insert can move around a bit in the bag, and you can hear a bit of sliding noise.

It's actually easier to access gear and store a gripped body due to the shorter height of this insert and thinner dividers. I always had a bit of a problem cramming a gripped body into the middle slot of the Billingham insert. I've got to try out this combination on an actual shoot to comment further.

That's a D300 mounted to a 24-70 with hood installed in the middle slot, and a 70-200 in the right slot

I have a Billingham Hadley Large that's about two years old. The green felt insert is starting to come apart. Anyone know of any other options for the inserts? Something that won't leave green fuzzies all over the place? ;) TIA!

Have you contacted Billingham, or the store you bought it from? I have no experience there, but wonder if they might help out.

Thanks for trying this out. Looks like anything tight fitting may pull the whole insert out with it.

I don't think it's a manufacturer defect, just age.

For the price, I'd fully expect the insert to last more than 2 years. Contact them and complain. I've had my crumpler 6MDH for about 2 years, the interior still looks brand new, and it was half the price of a hadley.

Is the insert felt as well?

I doubt it, but regardless of the material, it should last more than 2 years! Otherwise, they really should use a more durable material.

The bag itself is great, the insert over time gets green fuzzies like a cheap poker table.

Thanks for your post. You've helped me. I'm looking for a little bit larger Billingham for my d300s+grip and lenses. I can just fit a d300s + grip with 18-200VR mounted. It's a challenge, not helped when I have my BR strap on.
It does carry the basic camera with same lens on very easily. I have to take the dividers out for that. Trouble is I keep putting the vertical grip back on the camera.
Makes a great go-everywhere, walk about package.
Howard has suggested a Hadley Pro for the camera without grip attached.

Here comes some photos of my Hadley Pro.
(sorry about the poor quality, Nexus S made....I haven't a digital compact anymore)

then, in that configuration, i can easily put all that in the bag :

- 5DmkII
- 35L + lens cap
- a 0.6L water flask (or a 0.5 wine bottle ;) )
- a Canonet QL17 GIII
- Cowon J3 + Audio-Technica ESW9 hphones
- BR RS-7
- Moleskine note
- passeport
- card pouch (3 CF for the 5D+ 5 micro-SDHC full of flac. music)
- a gameboy advance sp custom
- credit card holder
- money pouch
- 2 mini sandisk usb key
- an Opinel knife
- a lenspen
- 2 pens
- some Ricola sweets

I also add a glasses pouch and my mobile.

It is now my work daily bag, and making photography is not really my job. The messenger style is really nice.
