I was on flickr today and found this guy who uses a little rebel and this Sigma lens to get crazy looking automobile shots. I've been looking to get a good telephoto and I really want the 70-200 2.8L II IS but at the same time I don't really have that kind of money. This lens would replace my kit and serve as a decent telephoto until I get the money to buy the L. Plus it would give me wide-angle shots as well which would be great for a walk-around.

Has anybody used this lens or know of its quality? I've heard about vignetting issues but those are pretty fixable in LR...

Here's the URL to his flickr you can see what this guy does with an xti and this lens its pretty nuts: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kenophotography/ (external link)

I use this lens with a Sigma DSLR (the older OS version, not the newly released one), I also use a Sigma 18-250mm DC OS HSM lens on my 7D. Any of these super zooms are a compromise but I'm happy with mine. They serve a purpose when I want to shoot without carrying a bag of lenses with me. FWIW, I like the 18-250mm lens better. It has HSM which the 18-200mm does not have and focuses faster. The newly released Sigma 18-200mm DC OS has HSM and has received some favorable reviews.

Depending on what your shooting needs are, the Sigma 18-200mm lens may or may not be right for you.
