Any of u own 550D with 15-85mm ??? How is the performance is using Outer Focus Point (non-cross type) ???

I used this lens with a 500D, the outer focus points were very good with this lens, even in the dark. It is obviously better on the cross type but definitely better than most of the lenses I put on my 500D

Yes and No, it will focus better than it's non-USM counterpart however the 15-85 focuses much better than my 50 1.4 USM in lower light/flare

Going to sell my EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM real soon. Not advertised for a couple of weeks, but it is a dead ringer for new and will go for a reasonable $550.

Had the test trial for the 24-70 L and it was not impressive on my 50D. In fact I greatly missed the extra wide/tele of my 15-85 and gained little in sharpness. Quite a surprise to me and easy to make up my mind. The L is returned and old faithful remains the walk around lens of choice!
